By decision of the Municipal Council of 27.06.2008 Rakitovo year established a National Literature Award "Milos Zyapkov." It is an act of recognition and tribute to the contribution of Milos Zyapkov the development of Bulgarian literature.

"In Rakitovo was born and lived until his tragic death, the poet and writer Milos Zyapkov whose work is among the most dignified, founded in the second half of XX century Bulgarian literature" written in his letter to the Town founders of the Prize.

Founders and organizers of the award are:

• Municipality Rakitovo

• The Union of Bulgarian Writers

• Association of Bulgarian Writers

• Association of Writers - Pazardzhik

Award for poetry, fiction and satire and is awarded for a book published last year.

Awarded annually in the Festival of Rakitovo.

It is accompanied by competition, which is announced between authors of Pazardzhik and competition among high school students from the area.

This year will be awarded for the first time on July 4 at the community center "Alarm" in Rakitovo. Municipal administration, community centers and family workers willing Zyapkov literary reading of nominees and winners and award ceremony to become a literary festival.

Municipality of Rakitovo invited 29 publishers, literary associations, magazines offer the best book last year. You can participate and diffuse poets and writers.

Winners will be judged by a five-member jury sent by the founders of the award. •

K. Zyapkov

Zyapkov Milosz was born on 18.01. 1940 Rakitovo. His father, an anarchist, he had been in camp Bogdanov Dol, which puts an imprint on the difficult path of the poet. He studied at the Pedagogical school in Velingrad. Writes default pedagogy and literature at Sofia University "St. University. Ohridski ". From 1957 until the end of his life working in TVU 'M. Gorky "Rakitovo. From small shows artistic talent - plays and recites the local community center, writing poetry and screenplays, directed and guided workshops.
