Castro accuses U.S. of occupying Haiti
"In this tragedy for Haiti without anyone knowing how and why thousands of soldiers from the U.S. Marine Corps, forces of 82 Airborne Division and other troops occupied the territory of Haiti," says Castro's official website Cubadebate.cu. "Furthermore, neither the UN nor the U.S. government gave explanations to the world public opinion for the actions of these forces." The occupation of Haiti was already criticized by the presidents of Venezuela and Bolivia.
