Restaurant with worker self-management in Thessaloniki

On June 7 Bartelonika restaurant in the center of Thessaloniki works on the principle of self-organization, managed by their workers. On Sunday, the restaurant does not work, but his kitchen is transferred to the anti-racist festival, where workers cook and serve visitors.

On Monday, June 7, we Bartelonika restaurant workers manage their own restaurant, so ask for help and support to all workers in Thessaloniki.

Two weeks ago, the restaurant's owners announced that the restaurant does not work and will be closed for three summer months. Furthermore, it was certain that it will reopen in September and how many of us will work and under what conditions. They told us and that all workers in the restaurant will be immediately dismissed and compensation for dismissal will begin to be paid in October and then, of course, if you had the money for it.

As workers in the system of catering know very well that a dismissal in today's deep economic crisis and gross violations antirabotnicheski means that we remain on the street. So we decided as workers in the restaurant not to bend heads and take matters into their hands. Current and achieved leadership of the restaurant to pay certain costs in place and our security, and now we have assumed management of the restaurant for the next two months (June and July), achieved in August to take normal leave.

As workers in the restaurant Bartelonika are determined not to let the restaurant in which we work, to be closed, but you do not assume any restaurant to be closed and our colleague to be fired. That's why our solidarity with the just struggle of our colleagues in a restaurant banquet.

Restaurant Bartelonika will be under our control, decisions will be taken to our general meeting by a majority and will be respected by us all. Whatever remains of the profits after expenses will be divided equally among all colleagues. All colleagues will work equally long in the same jobs as before.

Also decided to do a 30% discount for all customers of the restaurant.

We call on all workers, young people and residents of Thessaloniki to actively support our efforts to manage the restaurant to keep their jobs and not be thrown into unemployment and poverty.
